President, Overstock Retail. Dave returned to Overstock. Joel G. Joel became Overstock. More so, Joel plays a prominent role in bringing development processes to fruition; one of such is Overstock. The creation of Overstock. Having liquidated a host of retail businesses whose products were ultimately acquired, Overstock. The liquidation of inventories from distressed e-commerce businesses, and the eventual sales of such goods brought about exponential growth of Overstock.
The company launched its Worldstock subsidiary in to promote the production of goods — on its behalf — from developing countries. Another subsidiary was opened in Mexico in to distribute products within that country. The company now owns several other subsidiaries through direct creation or acquisition of already existing firms. These products are made available at discounted prices.
I was told it would be arriving on August 24, I was given a tracking number. I never received it. She said she would check the warehouse and call him back in 4 days to confirm.
I am very upset as to why Overstock would let us purchase an item that was out of stock and then send us a tracking number to an item that was never shipped and then charge our debit card. If we would have never called to track this item I guess it would have just been in limbo and we would have never received an updates.
I am highly upset with Overstocks lack of communication and customer service and will never recommend or do business with Overstock again. Please contact me at barbara. This horrible business practice is highly Unacceptable! Looking forward to hearing from you. I have had the worst experience of my life with overstock!
I will never order anything from them again! Please log in again. In a call from his car minutes after delivering a farewell speech to his surprised employees, Byrne said he had his bags packed. The existential crisis Byrne is putting his Salt Lake City-based company through comes after an impressive career pioneering e-commerce. Just as e-commerce captivated Byrne at the turn of the millennium, blockchain was his shiny new obsession.
The rest has been seemingly squandered on a personal vendetta: Overstock is creating a blockchain version of Nasdaq, which Byrne believed could right some of the evils of Wall Street—particularly the naked short-selling that he claims plagued his company for much of the last 15 years. In recent months, Byrne fired some people. In , he headed to Dartmouth to study philosophy and Asian studies. Shortly after his graduation, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
After treatment, he celebrated with a cross-country bicycle ride with his two older brothers. The cancer would come back two more times in quick succession and keep him in the hospital for much of his 20s. To keep his mind occupied while he was bedridden, he began pursuing a graduate degree in mathematical logic from Stanford. In he headed to Cambridge University as a Marshall Scholar and eventually received his philosophy doctorate from Stanford.
Despite his years in academia, Byrne pivoted hard to the pursuit of wealth in the late s. He also invested in distressed strip malls, office space and apartment buildings across the country. In , he led an investment into Centricut, a New Hampshire-based industrial torch-part manufacturer, and served briefly as CEO when the current management fell ill. His timing was perfect. The company began scooping up inventory from bankrupt dot-coms, whether it was consumer electronics, jewelry or sporting goods, then selling it on the cheap.
Google went public the same way. Byrne became convinced it was because of naked short-selling, an illegal practice in which investors sell shares in a company without actually borrowing the shares, typically using leverage.
And while the company never racked up massive losses like Amazon or Wayfair, as Byrne likes to point out, its profitability has been modest. Overstock broke into the black in , then eked out small profits for the next seven out of eight years.
Because of its vast selection of liquidated products, Overstock. We like Overstock. Some customers report the site does take a while to ship items, but if you find a product you want at a price that works for you, we recommend shopping at Overstock.

The company that delivers responded to a couple of my emails immediately, prior to delivery. The delivery men were super friendly. The dining set was well packaged, no damage and no missing parts. One of the pieces of the table has since broken, but I was able to order a replacement part online.
Hopefully I receive it! Overall, positive experience. I was overstocked for about 5 years. I really liked finding the things and started out filtered that I was looking for.
It was an overwhelming. They had just enough furniture for me to browse through. I like the selection and it wasn't too much Furniture so it wasn't overwhelming for me to look and see what they have. I ordered a bed in a box from them. It was supposed to be a Sealy. It was not. It was supposed to be firm.
It is not I bought it three years ago and already need a new one. I won't but from Overstock again. I will go to a furniture store that specializes in beds so I can physically see what I am getting..
Do not like the bed in a box. I had a wonderful experience with Overstock. The store is filled with affordable and stylish furniture for your particular look you are trying to achieve.
The website was easy to use and informative. I would definitely recommend this store to my friends and family. I purchased a 6 ft x 6 ft bookcase. The product description stated solid wood and quality wood veneer. When I received the bookcase, it was particleboard with razor thin veneer.
The finish was uneven and smooth in some areas and rough patches all over. The pieces are not labeled, so putting it together is a real joy. One fixed shelf was damaged and three adjustable were damaged. I was already livid about the particleboard, so contacted Overstock about returning it.
Their return policy states damaged items can be returned at no cost. What they evidently mean is, you pay and we'll reimburse you later once the damage is verified. I said, "What about your dishonest description?
